Dr. Chris Troiano | Principal Euphonium

Born and raised on Long Island, Dr. Chris Troiano joined the Capital Wind Symphony shortly after moving to Northern Virginia in 2015. Dr. Troiano was featured as a soloist with the Capital Wind Symphony during the 2017-2018 season on the euphonium duet, “Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms,” with friend and colleague Bryan Miles. As a guest, Dr. Troiano has had the opportunity to perform with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, the United States Air Force Band, and the West Point Band. Dr. Troiano is also a regular performer in the Alte Kameraden German band and the Northern Virginia Tuba-Euphonium Quartet (NOVATEQ).

Dr. Troiano serves as the Historical Ensembles Program Manager/Operations & Development Coordinator for the Green Machine Ensembles at George Mason University. As a historical instrumentalist, Dr. Troiano performs on various low brass instruments, including the over-the-shoulder saxhorn, ophicleide, and military serpent. Dr. Troiano directs the 8th Green Machine Regiment Band at George Mason University, a 19th-century brass band performing music from the 1800s on period instruments. In addition to performing regularly with the 8th GM Regiment Band, Dr. Troiano has also performed with the Newberry’s Victorian Cornet Band, Yankee Brass Band, 47th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Band, Old Bethpage Village Brass Band, and Music of the Regiment.
