Announcing New Music and Artistic Director
The Capital Wind Symphony Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. William L. Lake, Jr., as the organization’s Music and Artistic Director. Dr. Lake served as a guest conductor this fall, presenting a thrilling fall concert, “Inspirations,” following the resignation of founder and past music director George Etheridge. Serving in this capacity allowed the organization to conduct an extensive search, with Dr. Lake emerging as the clear choice.
The board is grateful for George’s years of dedicated service and musical leadership. His passion for creating the finest wind band has been instrumental in shaping the organization into what it is today. Dr. Lake “values the ensemble’s rich history and commitment to musical excellence and believes the organization is uniquely positioned to not only make a lasting impact in our community but also on a national and global scale.”
Please join us in welcoming Dr. William L. Lake Jr. as Music and Artistic Director on April 12, 2024, at 7:30 pm for the second concert of the performance season on the Capital One Hall Stage. The program titled “Metamorphosis” weaves together compositions that, like a moth’s transformation, evolve through changing motives, variations, and narratives. Each piece reflects the beauty of transformation and evolution in both nature and art.” We are excited about our metamorphosis as an ensemble as we continue to grow and expand our impact in our region and beyond. Tickets may be reserved here.
